Auto baron Herb Chambers plans to show off a car today that definitely lacks a rebate — a $1.7 million Bugatti that’s one of just 300 such cars in existence.

Chambers will wheel out his personal Bugatti Veyron 16.4 at Herb Chambers Porsche/Audi of Burlington as part of the dealer’s “Cars and Coffee†series, where local collectors display their rides.
“I always wanted a Bugatti — so when I got the opportunity to buy one, I did,†said Chambers, who purchased his vehicle directly from Volkswagen-owned Bugatti’s French factory six months ago.
The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 features a 1,000-horsepower quad-turbocharged engine that can go 235 mph.
That’s just 15 mph slower than the model’s sister Bugatti Super Sport, the world’s fastest production car.
Chambers’ Bugatti is one of roughly two-dozen super-premium models in his personal car collection, which also includes a $4 million McLaren F-1 and a $1.2 million Ferrari Daytona Spyder.
The auto baron often displays vehicles in his collection at his free “Cars and Coffee†events, which also feature some two-dozen new cars from Chambers’ dealerships and as many as 150 vehicles that other local collectors bring.
“It’s all about getting (auto enthusiasts) together and giving them a chance to talk about their cars and see all of our different production vehicles,†Chambers said.
“Cars and Coffee†will take place from 7 to 10 a.m. today, with Red Sox slugger Kevin Youkilis on hand from 8 to 9 a.m., at Herb Chambers Porsche/Audi, 62 Cambridge St., Burlington.
